Kuala Lumpur, Malacca & Penang (9 Days)



Day 1  Hometown – Kuala Lumpur

You begin your adventure, depart from your hometown to Kuala Lumpur. Enroute, you will cross the International Dateline.

Day 2  Arrive Kuala Lumpur

Upon arrival at Kuala Lumpur – the capital city of Malaysia, meet and transfer to hotel.
Hotel: Dorsett Kuala Lumpur or similar

Day 3  Kuala Lumpur

Your tour starts to visit Naitonal Museum to see the contrast between the Indo-Moorish architecture and the ultra modern edifices, the new Kings Palace and National Monument. Next, view the beautiful Lake Gardens, National Mosque and the old Moorish style Railway Station. At the city centre, a photo stops for Petronas Twin-Tower, still the tallest twin building in the world and followed by the Independence Square. Final stop is to witness pewter craftsmanship at the Royal Selangor Visitor Centre.

A lunch will be served at a city restaurant.

This afternoon, take a short drive through Little India before we make our journey to Batu Caves. The Batu Caves is a massive limestone outcrop, with its interior dominated by a sacred Hindu shrine lined with different deities, located deep inside the high caverns which take 272 steps to reach. Outside the caves, marvel at the 43m high golden statue of Lord Murugan. Final stop is Chong Batik, a traditional Malaysian Batik Centre to see how the Batik is printed or hand-drawn using wax and dye. (B/L)

Day 4  Kuala Lumpur – Malacca – Kuala Lumpur

Today, you will take a full-day excursion to Malacca. Depart from Kuala Lumper, take a relaxing, scenic 2-hour drive south of Kuala Lumpur takes you to Malacca, the oldest trading port in Malaysia which has undergone Portuguese, Dutch and English rule.

Visit Stadhuys or the Dutch Square and take a walk up St. Paul’s Hill for a panoramic view of the Malacca Straits and the old town of Bandar Hilir. At the top is the ruin of St. Pauls Church, lined by 17th Century Dutch tombstones. Stop for a typical €˜Nonya€™ lunch before taking a stroll through the Antiques Row at Jonker Street. Other visits include the famous Portuguese Porta de Santiago and Cheng Hoon Teng, the oldest Chinese Temple in Malaysia. If time permitting, you will have a photo stop at the Morten Village, a typical Malay village before return jorney. (B/L)

Day 5  Kuala Lumpur – Penang

After breakfast, transfer to airport for your flight to Penang. Upon arrival at Penang International Airport, meet and transfer to hotel. (B)

Day 6  Penang

Today you explore Penang – the Pearl of the Orient and the oldest British settlement in Malaysia. It begins by going round the island with visits to a Batik Factory, typical Malay villages and the unique Snake Temple. View Penang Bridge and lunch enroute at a local restaurant. This afternoon, visit Kek Lok Si, Southeast Asia’s largest Buddhist temple and the century old 72-arce Penang Botanical Gardens. Stroll through the main gardens, learn about the rare species of flora and fauna while monkeys roam freely in their natural habitats.  Enjoy a fresly brewed Penang White Coffee before returning to the hotel. Day 7  Penang

Explore the streets of George Town and some of its famous UNESCO Wold Heritage Sites. Photo stop at Fort Cornwallis, Penang’s most prominent historical fortress. Learn more about the Stratis Settlement  history at the Penang Museum*. Visit the Peranakan Mansion which houses many priceless antique collections and artifacts, depicting an assimilation of cultures between Malays and the early Chinese settlers. Within the vicinity, check-out the murals (street art) depicting the simple life style of Penang. On the way back, option to view the oldest Protestant Cemetary in Southeast Asia, where the founder of Penang – Captain Francis Light  laid to rest. This afternoon is free at your leisure. (B)

*Penang Museum closes on Fridays, on which day longer stop will be given at other attractions

Day 8  Penang

Today is a free day at your leisure. (B)

Day 9  Penang – Hometown

Bid farewell to Malaysia and transfer to airport for your homward flight. It is the same afternoon when you arrive home as you will re-cross the International Dateline. (B)
