TOUR ITINERARY

 

Day 1 (Fri)      Canada – Beijing

You begin your adventure. Depart from your hometown on carrier of your choice to Beijing. En-route you will cross the International Dateline.

 

Day 2 (Sat)     Arrive Beijing

Arrive in Beijing, China’s seventh-century-old capital. Upon arrival, meet and transfer to the hotel.

Hotel: Regal Court Hotel or Similar

 

Day 3 (Sun)   Beijing
Your tours start in the morning to Tian’anmen Square, the largest urban square in the world with the capacity of 1 million people. Next, Forbidden City located in the centre of Beijing, it’s the largest existing, best preserved imperial palace in the world today covering a total area of 720,000 square meters. Then, the Summer Palace presents a breathtaking arrangement of lake, landscape, pagodas and pavilions, a fine example of Chinese gardening art. Then, you will enjoy Chinese traditional Peking Opera. Day 4 (Mon)   Beijing

Following breakfast, drive to the Badaling section of the Great Wall, the world’s greatest man-made structure winding dragon-like across Northern China and praised as a "Wonder of the World".  This is the only earthly evidence of man visible from the moon.  Next, visit one of the Changling of Ming Tombs with Sacred Way, a boulevard lined with sculpted stone animals.  You will visit a Jade stone carving factory enroute.  (B/L)

 

Day 5 (Tue)    Beijing

This morning, visit the Temple of Heaven, a masterpiece of 15th Century architecture inscribed on the UNESCO’s World Heritages List.  After lunch, you will take a Hutong tour.  Hutongs are age-old urban lanes unique to Beijing.  At present, there are some 4,550 hutongs around Beijing, and the structures that compose the hutongs are mostly residential compounds.  Then you will visit Pearl work-shop.  This evening, enjoy Peking Duck Dinner, the no. 1 typical food of Beijing.  (B/L/SD)

 

Day 6 (Wed)   Beijing – Xi’an

Fly to Xi’an.  Upon arrival, visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, brick-tower architecture boasted a five-storey structure about 60 meters high.  Next, visit the Shaanxi Provincial Museum, a striking Tang-Dynasty style pavilion, houses a large collection of 113,000 historic and cultural artifacts.  (B/L)

Day 7 (Thu)   Xi’an

A full day excursion takes you to one of the most exciting archaeological finds in recent years – the unearthing of more than 6,000 Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses.  These figures guard the tomb of Emperor Qin and are buried in the huge pit covering more than three acres. Then, you will visit the Ceramics & Pottery Center.  Tonight, enjoy a Dumpling Dinner followed by a delightful Tang Dynasty Show. (B/L/SD)

 

Day 8 (Fri)     Xi’an – Chongqing-Yangtze River Cruise

This morning fly to Chongqing, the embarkation point of the Yangtze River Cruise. In Chongqing, visit the Zoo and Giant Pandas before embark on the cruise ship MV Paradise, your home for the next three nights. (B/L/D)

Day 9 (Sat)    Yangtze River Cruise

Today take a shore excursion to Shibaozhai, rocky hill has steep side and is about 220 meters tall. The red pavilion hugs one side of the rock. Its gate is decorated with lions and dragons. The spirit wall in the temple’s main hall was constructed of excavated Han Dynasty. (B/L/D)

 

Day 10 (Sun)   Yangtze River Cruise

This morning enter the first gorge - Qutang Gorge, the shortest but by far the most dramatic of the Yangtze’s Three Gorges with steep cliffs and fascinating oddities surrounding you. Next enter the second gorge - Wu Gorge, known for its odd, misty rock formations and soaring mountain backdrop. After lunch, you will take a shore excursion to Shennong Stream. You will be transferred to a sampan drifting rapidly on a breathtaking ride. During the journey, you may see the ancient roads, the ancient coffins in the precipice, and even some rare animals such as golden-haired monkeys. Enjoy the wonderful scene of deep and quiet gorges, the magnificent peaks as if they are cut by axes and knives. Then enter the third gorge - Xiling Gorge, the largest and previously the most hazardous, along the magnificent gorge. Next pass the 5-Step Ship-Lock that takes approx. 3 hours and ship docks overnight. (B/L/D)

 

Day 11 (Mon)   Yangtze River Cruise... Yichang – Shanghai

This morning take a shore excursion to visit the New Dam Site, the world’s largest and most powerful hydroelectric dam. Towering 610 feet high and stretching 1.3 miles wide, the dam will create a reservoir that extends nearly 400 miles upstream. Disembark at Yichang around noon and fly to Shanghai. (B/L)

Day 12 (Tue)  Shanghai

During your stay in Shanghai, see the riverfront promenade, "The Bund" – a splendid vantage point to view the colourful traffic on the Huangpu River & Pudong Development Zone.  Visit the Yu Garden, Jade Buddha Temple, Children’s Palace and Carpet Factory.  After dinner, enjoy an Acrobatic Show.  (B/L/D)

 

 

Day 13 (Wed) Shanghai – Zhujiajiao – Shanghai

This morning, take an excursion to Zhujiajiao, a river-town near Shanghai.  Return to Shanghai and visit the Shanghai Museum. Rest of the day is at your leisure.  (B/L)

 

Day 14 (Thu)  Shanghai – Canada

Bid farewell to China and depart for Vancouver.  It is the same day when you arrive home as you will re-cross the International Dateline. (B)
