Shanghai, one of the four municipalities under the direct jurisdiction of the Central Government, is located on a delta where the Yangtze River pours into the East China Sea in the east. It touches the Hangzhou Bay in the south, Jiangsu and Zhejiang Provinces in the west, and the estuary of the golden waercourse of the Yangtze in the north.
Lying in the center where the coastline of North and South China join, the city enjoys convenient transportation with a vast hinterland. It is the largest port in China and the third largest oprt int he world, and measures 100 km from east to west and 120 km from north to south. The downtown area within the outer ring road is 610 square km, and the area of Chongming Island, China's third largest island, is 1,041 square km. Shanghai is an ecnomic center and a famous historic and cultural city in China. It is also a must place for foreign investments and business trips. |

 The Bund
The Bund is one of the most famous tourist attractions and the symbol of modern Shanghai. It is located along the bank of the Huangpu River, stretching for 1.7km. Fifty-two high-rises of all styles stand in the west, showcasing the art of world architecture and miniaturing the historyof contemporary Shanghai. In the east is the wide embankment. It attracts exercisers in the morning. As night falls, it presents another picture by neon lights. |

Nanjing Road
Nanjing Road, 5.5km in length, is the busiest commercial center in Shanghai, with a number of malls, department stores, specialized shops, recreational facilities. Every day, it draws an average of 1.7 million visitors from Shanghai and other parts of the country as well as the world. |

 Shanghai MuseumThe Shanghai Museum at the People's Square is a large, comprehensive museum, which collects 123,000 relics in 21 categories, including bronze ware, pottery ware, calligraphy and paintings. A newly-established Shanghai Museum was completed at the end of 1994, and it has a rich collection of precious and rare treasures. It is in the shape of a bronze tri-pot, elegant and solemn, and consists of ten exhibition halls, one specialized hall for relic donations, and three temporary exhibition halls. There are passageways specially designed for the disabled. |

 Yu Yuan GardenBuilt in the Ming Dyansty, Yu Yuan is the most famous classical garden in Shanghai. Exquisitely arranged and well proportioned, it features the gardening styles of South China during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. A small next to the Fair, a nice place for shopping. It is also a tourist attraction where people can learn about the customs of old Shanghai, admire structures built during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, go shipping, enjoy food, and ease away their spare time at an entertainment center. |

Jade Buddha Temple
Built in 1882, is a well-preserved Buddhist temple. It was so named because it enshrines the statue of Sakyamuni carved out of white jade and shipped to Shanghai from Burma. |
