Chongqing is located at the junction of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers and hemmed in by mountains on all sides. Built in accordance with the terrain of mountains, the city features the unique style of a mountainous city. Chongqing is known as the City of Fog because it is fogy and wet in later autumn and early spring.

Chongqing is the cradle of the Ba Culture dating back to 3,000 years ago. The simple, unique folklore and local customs have enriched tourism resources. There are more than 300 scenic spots, including the Urban Sightseeing of the City of Mountains, the Golden Tourist Route of the Three Gorges along the Changjiang River, and Eight Special-Feature Tourist Areas, among which seven rate state Grade AAAA tourist areas, and more thena tne relics under state protection.
